Examination TextThe Examination of Sarah Taylor lodging at Mr Roberts's a Chandler in that part of White Hart Yard which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this fourth Day of September 1776. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 31 years of age, that she never was married, she was on the 26th Day of August last delivered at the house of Mr Roberts in White Hart Yard in the Parish of St Martin the Fields aforesaid of a female bastard child (not yet christened) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that John Sheppard a Smith in Bury Street St. James's did beget on her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said John Sheppard is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year above written before J. King, J. Treslove.
