Examination Text | The Examination of Mary Goodwin passed as a vagrant from the Parish of St Margaret in the city of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the Liberty of Westminster taken this 16th Day of July 1776. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 19 years of age, that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that her father William Goodwin (who died about fortnight [sic]) was a Green Grocer and lived in and rented an house inear the Playhouse door in Vinegar Yard in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of several years at the yearly rent of 15 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about five years ago, that her father never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards. Sworn the 16th Day of July 1776 before Thomas Bullard. |
