Examination Text | James Mayers aged 58 years lodging at his brother's a Bird Shop in St Martin's Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was the yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his father James Mayers (who died about 14 years ago) was a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Shelton Court in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fieldsfor the space of 10 years at the yearly rent of 18 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about [blank] years, that he never kept house (except in Blue Cross Street in the said Parish) afterwards. Sworn the 29th day of March 1776 before Thomas Bullard. |
