Examination TextMiddlesexto wit} The Examination of Susanna Ward Singlewoman taken upon Oath this Twenty ninth Day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and thirty four Who upon her Oath saith she is about three and twenty years of age That she was a yearly hired servant the Space of six years to Mr Wolmsley Steward to the Lord Cholmondeley who lived next to the War Office in Scotland Yard in the parish of Saint Martin in the Fields had three and four pounds by the year Wages Diet and Lodging Left that Service about two years ago and never hath lived a year in any one Service since And further on her Voluntary Oath Saith she is now great with Child and that the same when born is or are likely to be born a Bastard or Bastards and to be chargeable to the said parish of Saint Martin inthe Fields And that one Thomas Lloyd or Custom house Officer had several times before the twenty second Day of April last past the Carnal Knowledge of her Body at her Lodging in the room one pair of Stairs of the house of Anne Pope in Brush Alley in East Smithfield aforesaid but never since at one of which said times he begot her with child of the child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of and further on her Oath Saith that he the said Thomas Lloyd is the true and only ffather thereof And no man else Sworn the Day and Year abovewritten Before Thos Deveil The mark of Susanna Ward
