Examination Text | The Examination of Elizabeth Davis Singlewoman taken on Oath this Day of Who upon her Oath saith she is about Eighteen Years of age and that she was never married That she was on Wednesday the Twenty first Day of November last past delivered of a Male Bastard Child (Since Christened Charles) in the Workhouse of and in the parish of Saint Martin in the ffields and which died on the Thirtieth Day of the said Month of November And that one John Price a Master Builder who now or lately kept House as she hath heard in Spring Garden in the said parish of Saint Martin in the ffields had on or about the first Day of March last the CornalKnowledge of her Body at a House which he took her to, telling her this Examinant it was his Mothers but in what street or place the said House is Situate and being knoweth not or ever heard And this Examinant farther on her Oath saith that the said John Price lay in Bed in a Room in the said House with this Examinant all or the greater part of the night on or about the first of March last past at which Time he the said John Price did beget on her Body the said Male Bastard Child and that he is the true and only ffather thereof and no Man else Sworn the Day and Year above written before |
