Examination TextElizabeth Thompson aged near 40 years in the workhouse saith she is the widow of George Thompson (who died on the 14th Day of August last at Glasgow in Scotland), that she was married to him in Fleet Lane 19 years ago by whom she hath one child to wit Hannah aged 14 years, with a relation in Market Street in Hertfordshire, that her said husband was a Shoemaker by trade and that he was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to one Mr Bell, a Shoemaker at the sign of the [Bell] in Leg Alley in Long Acre whom he there served about five years, and then his master and he removed together and lived in Phenix Alley in Long Acre aforesaid and that he served his master there about one year more, and then married her this Examinant, that immediately upon their marriage they took a lodging in a house at one Mr Truman's next to the corner of Phenix Alley in Long Acre aforesaid and they continued there the space of six years, and that he never took any house rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since, and that she hath not been married since her said husband's death.
