Examination TextFrances Allen aged upwards of 70 years lately lodging at one Waiver's a Grinder in Parkers Lane St Giles's saith that she is the widow of Richard Allen (who has been dead nine years), was married him at a private house in Drury Lane by a Minster of the Church of England about 40 years ago, that her said husband was a Victualler and kept house almost opposite Durham Yard in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields (the sign of the Oxford Arms) upwards of one year and paid 24 pounds per ann. rent for the same, that they quitted that house about 20 years ago and hath not kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. or paid any parish taxes since, hath three children by him to wit Richard (if living) aged about 40 years, who served his time at one Mr Gray a Peruke Maker in Bromley Street St Giles is, Frances aged about 33 years, the wife of Joseph Wells a Smith at Lincoln, and Martha aged about 31 years, the wife of James Gray a Diamond Cutter and Polisher who lives she believes in London, and hath not been a yearly hired servant since her husband's death.
