Examination Text | James Battle aged about 19 years in the workhouse saith he never was bound apprentice kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or lived a year together in any one place as a yearly hired servant, that he was born in a cellar in Durham Yard in the Strand, and that his father James Battle who sold fruit and lived in and rented an house in Heath Cock Court in the Strand in this Parish about six years and paid 10 pounds per ann. rent for the same (clear of all taxes) and died therein about seven years ago, and that his mother died before his father.
