Examination TextThe Examination of Ann ffalconer widow taken upon oath this 16th Day of August 1742. Who upon oath saith she is about 36 years of age, lodging at Mrs Bennet in Vine Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that she is the widow of Robert ffalconer (who died about 11 years ago), was married to him in this Examinants Father's house at Montress [sic] in Scotland in the year 1719 and at the time of her said husband's death had one child living, William aged five years, and which died about seven years ago, that she having no child or children living was a yearly hired servant to one Mrs [Belliere] who lived in Suffolk Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid one year and one week at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet washing and lodging, quitted the same last July was 12 months, since which she never kept any house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or hath been a year together in any place, And this Examinant further upon her voluntary oath saith she is now Great with child which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and at one Garrett Doyle, Foreman to Mr Forrester a Glover in New Street St Martin's Lane had carnal knowledge of her body on the 17th Day of March last in the bed where this Examinant use to lay in the Garret in the house of Mr Forrester aforesaid, this Examinant being then a servant there, and several times afterwards in the same bed at which or one of which times he the said Garrett Doyle and no man else did beget on her body the child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off.
