Examination TextMary Watkinson aged 20 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she was married to her husband Henry at the ffleet 17 years ago last January [sic], that he is a Cook by trade and that she has heard him say he served his apprenticeship at the Thatch'd House in St. James's Street, but she does not know his master's name nor how long since his time expired, that he was afterwards a yearly hired servant (but can't tell how long) to [blank] who kept the Falstaff's Head tavern near Charing Cross in the Parish aforesaid, knows not what wages he had, has heard that he lived there six or seven years, and that she does not know nor never heard that he was a yearly hired servant ever kept house rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes afterwards, that he has been two voyages to sea within the three years last past and is now on board an Indiaman and going to Bengal where he has been ever since the 20th of January last, that she is now big with child or children by her said husband and near her delivery.
