William Smith< no role > a Coach maker a Lodger at Mr
Kirkwood's in St. Ann's Court (in a Garret) on his
Oath saith That he worked in the same Shop with
Mr. Kirkwood upwards of two Years, Says that he
worked there on Tuesday last in the Afternoon
with Mr. Kirkwood, Says that Mr. Kirkwood went hope
to Tea, as Dept. thinks about [..] five o'Clock and returned to the Shop
in less than, an hour, and afterwards worked
with Dept. in the Shop until a Quarter after Eight
o'Clock or there abouts, and then went home
Says that this Dept. was some time afterwards
fetched home, and was then informed that Mrs.
Kirkwood was dead. And this Dept. says that the
Deced used to get up in the Night time and make
a Noise in the House, and open the Doors and
Windows, Says that the Deced was very often
in Liquor, and then Quarrelled with her Husband.

John Wasson< no role > Apprentice to William Kirkwood< no role > on
his Oath saith, That he sleeps with William Smith< no role >
in a Qarret in his Master's House, and has ofter
heard Mrs. Kirkwood make a Noise in the Night
and disturb the People in the House, but that he
did not hear any Noise or Quarrelling, between
Mr. Kirkwood and the Deced on Monday Night last
Says that he Break fasted with his Master at home
last Tuesday Morning, when Mr. Kirkwood carried
Deced's Breakfast up to her as usual, She being in
Bed, Says that they Dined at home that day, but
that the Deced did not eat any Dinner with them,
Says that his Master worked with him in the Shop until
about five o'Clock when he went home to Tea, and
returned in about half an hour, Says that Dept.
was sent to carry some Bird seed for his Mistress
and found her in the Kitchin, That Deced appeared
as usual and thanked Dept. for the Seed, Says that
he then went back to the Shop and worked there with
his Master until about a Quarter after Eight o'Clock
when Mr. Kirkwood. went home. And Dept. further
says that he has seen the Deced beat herself with
a Pewter Plate, a Pinch herself, and then declare
that she would say her Husband beat her
