Informations taken this Twenty second day
of June 1774 at the Parish of St. George Hanover
Square within the Liberty of Westmr. in the County
of Middlesex upon an Inquisition touching the death
of Daniel Palmer Stokes< no role > lying dead in the said
Parish Liberty and County.

Aaron Fryer< no role > of Curzon Street in the Parish of St
George Hanr. Square Stationer on his Oath saith, That
about Four o'Clock on Friday Morning last (June 17th.)
Daniel Palmer Stokes< no role > proposed going to Bathe in the
Serpentine River in Hyde Park , that Charles Neale< no role >
and Thomas Lane< no role > (two of Lord Mount Morris's Servants
and this Dept. agreed to go with him and they accordingly
got to the Water sides about five o'Clock That Charles Nee [..] le
went in first and was followed by the Deced
both of them having their Cloaths off, and Swimmed
in the River about two Minutes, Says that he this
Dept. went in a little way, and the Decedfurther
about thirty Yards in the Water and Neck about
Twenty Yards further going to Swim across the River
Says that he heard said Neale cry out three or four
times that Stokes was Drowning, and Dept. then
saw Stokes's Hand when he was Sinking, and Dept. did
not see him rise up afterwards Says that said Neale
Swam to the Shore and was very faint, and Dept.
believes that said Stokes was Accidentally Drowned

Charles Neele< no role > lote Servant to Lord Mount Morris
on his Oath saith, That on Friday Morning last the
Deced Aaron Fryer< no role > Thomas Lane< no role > and this Dept. went
to Swim in the Sarpentine River in Hyde Park
about five o'Clock, Says they Stripped and Dept. went
first into the River, and Deced followed, Says that
they proposed going across and Dept. was several Yards
