Informations taken this Fourth day of
March 1771 at the Parish of St. Margaret within
the City & Liberty of Westmr . in the County of Midsex
upon an Inquisition touching the Death of a New
born Male Child lying dead in the said Parish
City Liberty and County.

Archdall Harris< no role > of New Palace Yard Westmr. Surgeon
on his Oath saith, That he this day Examined a New born
Male Child in the Workhouse belonging to the Parish of St.
Margaret and found no Marks of violence thereupon
That the Child doth not appear to be come to Maturity
not being above eight months as Dept. believes, and
Says that he thinks the Child must have died in the
Birth,

a Perukemaker in Petty France in the Parish of St.
Margaret Westmr . on his Oath saith, That on Saturday,
Night last (March 2d.) about Eight o' Clock Dept. being in
his Master's Shop heard a gentle knock at the Street
Door, which he opened, and then saw a Man & a Woman
standing on the outside, the Man saying that something
lay down at the Door, Says that he then saw a Bundle
lying on the Step, and turning in to fetch a Candle he
heard the Man say, that immagined a Child, Says that he
then saw something wrapp'd up in a Linnen Cloth,
which appeared to be Bloody, Says that a Young Man
in Dept, presence opened the Cloth and Dept. then saw
the Head of a new born Child but Dept. did not examine
the Child, Says that the Child was removed the same
Evening, and carried to the Parish Workhouse as Dept.
was informed, That he saw a Child in the Workhouse
this day which he believes to be the Child abovementioned.
