{In Obedience to and in part compliance with the Order only 56 Female Convicts
instead of 60 as directed on the other side were put on board the Surprize, Mr
Patrick Campbell< no role > Master . February 794. Whose names are severally written on Pages

Observation

{There seems great jest manifested in the Execution of His Majestys Commands throughout this Contract, The List laid before The
King in Council on this occasion contained the Names of 77. Convicts some in Newgate and others on Board the Hulks and
that list is not only alluded to in the Order of Council, but is particularly taken notice of in the Warrant authorizing Mr
Shelton to Contract, but how are the Kings directions or the Command in the Warrant complied with? different persons from those
proposed are sent, and the excuse is that those omitted are too old for the Voyage it was certainly the business of the Person
applying for the warrant to contract to have considered this previous to laying a list before the King that it might have corresponded
with the Order of Council and with his Warrant m m m m m - for if these Exceptions are suffered to be made by Contractors and keepers
after obtaining His Majestys Warrant for a direct purpose it must afford the most Gross partiality in the Transportation of Councils
while it opens a Channel for Bribery and Shameful oppression, it perhaps will not be improper to conclude the observation by one hint
that is, it would be a rare instance for a Transport who had no money to be represented useful in a Gaol, there are in Newgate some
few at this instant represented to be so tho' a great Number of Orders for Removal of Convicts have been Sent, if Justices was done the Public
their names should be particularly noticed in an Order of Removal that such Wretches might be denied their Revels and be Transported
without reserve.

{In Obedience to the Warrant written on the other side Execution of the Sentence was
done upon the Body of Samuel Rousewell< no role > , This prisoner Samuel Rousewell< no role > was one of the Gang called Floorers, he was the veryperson who murdered Mr. Linton the Musician some years back, and was put into St. Martins watchhouse for the offence where he escaped opposite His Majestys Goal of Newgate the 12th. day of
March 1794. This Prisoners name is written on page 42 No. 57.
