The Affidavit of Charles Harris< no role >
of Maiden Lane< no role > Cort Garden
Baker

Who being on Oath says That one
William Mercer< no role > sometime [..] about March last
stole a Three-penny loaf out of the Basket
of this deponent in Tavitsite Street, which
Basket was in the possession of this Deponents
servant James Kell< no role > , at which time this
Deponent was in his own Shop in Maiden
Lane apreaid and knew nothing either
directly or indirectly of the said Felony
but that by some mistake or other this
Deponent name was inserted in the
Recognizance taken at Bas thatAnd this
Deponent further saith that the said
William Mercer< no role > was tried at the
next session and convicted of the said
Felony ; Lit that this deponent name
not being on the Back of the Rite, &
That his namely being so inserted in the
said Recognizance, it appears that he
has forfeited his Recognizance, and which
This Deponent on his Oath saith he
never entered into
