The Order of Michael Downs< no role > and
William Jones< no role > Esquire Two of His
Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said City
and Liberty
one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing within
the Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, made the
Sixth Day of June One
Thousand, Seven, Hundred and Ninety four
concerning a Male Bastard Child, lately born
in the Parish aforesaid, of the

Whereas, it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, as
upon the Oath of the said Mary Baptist that she the said
Mary Baptist on the thirtieth Day of
January 1791 was delivered of a Male Bastard Child,
in the said Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, and that the said Male
Bastard Child, is [..] come Chargeable to the said Parish of Saint James:
and further, that Michael Claney< no role > of Russell Place in the
Parish of Saint Pancras did beget the said Bastard Child on
the Body of her the said Mary Baptist and Whereas
the said michael Claney did
to appear before us, the said Justices in the
Vestry-Room of the Parish Church of the Parish aforesaid, to shew cause if he could
why he should not be adjudged the reputed Father of the said Male Bastard Child,
and Whereas the said Michael Clancy did not shaw any Cause
why he should not ne adjudged the reputed Father of the
said Male Bastard Child so born as aforesaid

We therefore upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as
well upon the Oath of the said Mary Baptist as otherwise, do
hereby adjudge him, the said Michael Clancy to be the reputed Father
of the said Male Bastard Child

And thereupon we do order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of Saint
James, as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the said
Michael Clancy shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint James, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Three Pounds eighteen
Shillings and nine pence for and towards the Maintenance and
Expences incurred on account
of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order

And we do also hereby further Order, that the said Michael Clancy
shall likewise pay, or cause to be paid, to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, for the Time being, or to some or one of them,
the Sum of Three Shillings Weekly and every Week from the
present Time, for and towards the Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the
said Bastard Child, for and during so long a Time as the said Bastard Child shall be
chargeable to the said Parish of saint James.
