Downs
< no role > Esquire Two of His
Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said City
and Liberty of Westminster
one whereof is of the Quorum, and both residing within
the Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, made the
Ninth Day of May Instant One
Thousand, Seven, Hundred and Ninety four
concerning [..] les Bastard Child, lately born
in the Parish of Saint James aforesaid, of the
Body of Ann Healey< no role >

Whereas, it hath appeared unto us the said Justices, as well upon the Complaint
of the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, as
upon the Oath of the said Ann Healey< no role > that she the said
Ann Healey on the Seventeenth Day of
a December 1786 was delivered of a Male Bastard Child,
in the said Parish of Saint James, in the said Liberty, and that the said Male
Bastard Child, is become Chargeable to the said Parish of Saint James:
and further, that George Cook< no role > of Wallington in the County of
Oxford did beget the said Bastard Child on
the Body of her the said Ann Healey and Whereas
the said George Cook was duly Summoned
to appear before us, the said Justices in the
Vestry-Room of the Parish Church of the Parish aforesaid, to shew cause if he could
why he should not be adjudged the reputed Father of the said Male Bastard Child,
and Whereas the said George Cook did not appear to
shew any such cause

We therefore upon Examination of the Cause and Circumstance of the Premises, as
well upon the Oath of the said Ann Healey< no role > as otherwise, do
hereby adjudge him, the said George Cook< no role > to be the reputed Father
of the said Male Bastard Child

And thereupon we do order, as well for the better Relief of the said Parish of Saint
James, as for the Sustentation and Relief of the said Bastard Child, that the said
George Cook shall and do forthwith, upon Notice of this our Order,
pay or cause to be paid to the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said
Parish of Saint James, or to some or one of them, the Sum of Six Pounds
six Shillings for and towards the Expinces
of the said Bastard Child, to the Time of making this our Order

And we do also hereby further Order, that the said George Cook
shall likewise pay, or cause to be paid, to the Churchwardens and Overseers of the
Poor of the said Parish of Saint James, for the Time being, or to some or one of them,
the Sum of Five Shillings Weekly and every Week from the
present Time, for and towards the Keeping, Sustentation, and Maintenance of the
said Bastard Child, for and during so long a Time as the said Bastard Child shall be
chargeable to the said Parish of saint James.
