reported the Death of Mr. Core the then late
receive and that he had appointed Anthony
Wingfield
< no role > the then late Assistant to succeed him and
that he had not appointed any one to succeed
Anthony Wingfield< no role > as not then appearing to him to
be necessary

This Committee also find that at the then
next subsequent Meeting of the Grand Committee
upon the 18th. day of July following the Minutes of
the said Committee of the 20th. day of June were
read and confirmed

This Committee also find that by a Bond.
bearing date the 25th. day of September 1775 the said
Anthony Wingfield< no role > , Charles Smith< no role > of Stratford in the
County of Essex Esquire and Robert Smith< no role > of Croydon
in the County of Surrey Maltster became bound
to William Bowden< no role > Esq. . the then Treasurer of the
said Hospital in £1000 for the said Anthony Wingfield< no role >
fidelity in his said Office.

This Committee had ordered the Clerk to
apply to Mr. Smith for the Payment of the above
Bond and had receive the following Letter from
Messrs. Parnther Druce and Parnther the before
named Mr. Smith's Sollicitors directed to the
Committee of St. Thomas's Hospital

Gentlemen

We are sorry to find from Mr
Cromwell's Letter addressed to us that he has it
in Command from the Committee to call upon
Mr. Smith for Payment of £1000 in consequence of
his late Fathers Bond for the fidelity of Mr.
Wingfield your receiver whatever the Law of this
Case may be we will not at Present advert to it
Considering (as we are sure you will) that the
Circumstances of it candidly considered lead to that
