Statue


In pursuance of an Order at the last Court in relacon to the Erecting
the Statue of the Rt. Woppll: Sr: Robert Clayton< no role > Knight & Aldrman
President of this Hospitall Wee have consulted with several Artists
and heard and considered their proposalls And thereupon wee are of
Opinion That the said Statue shall be cutt in Marble and placed
in the Middle of the lower Quadrangle of this Hospitall upon a
Marble Pedestall And wee have agreed with Mr. Grinling Gibbon< no role >
to cutt the said Statue in the best Marble and to fix and set up the
same upon a Pedestall of the same sort of Marble by Christmas next
in such manner as is more particulerly expressed n an Agreement
for this purpose under the Hand and seale of the said Mr: Gibbon.

And inpursuance of an other Order made at the last
Court Wee have finished the New Wards on the South side of the
first Court of this Hospitall next the Burrough and Furnished
the same with new Bedds and have placed Woemen in the said
Wards And wee have caused the old Foule Wards on the Northside
of the said first Court to be pulled downe and have disposed of all
the old Wenterialls to Mr. Christopher Johns< no role > Bricklayer (excepting
the Lead Iron and Glass and the Brickwall on the Northside of the
said Mards which wee have reserved for the use of the Hospitall And
in Consideracon of the old Materialls the said Mr: Johns is to pay
the Hospitall Thirty Five pounds and to be at the Charge of pulling
downe the said Wards.

The Building over ye
Surgeons Roome to
be Carried to the
Church Wall

And Wee alsoe certifye that wee have carried up all
the Walls of the New parish Church of St. Thomas and have agreed
with Robert Calcutt< no role > Carpenter for the Roofing of the said Church
He is to doe all manner of Carpenters worke and to provide
Scaffolding and to let the same stand after he has done for the use
of the Plaisterer In consideracon whereof wee are to allow him
Threee Hundred and Fifty pounds He is now Raiseing the said
Roofe and is forthwith to finish and Cover in the same And for
the better support of the Callery and the Northwall of the said
Church wee have thought it necessary to Order a Stone Pillar to be sett
up under the Brest Sumer at the West End of the Piazze under the
said Gallery And wee alsoe thought it necessary And have accordingly
Ordered that the Building over the Surgeons Roome be carried
home to the Churchwall from the first story to the Topp of the
said Building.
