Ground now in Lease to One Mr. Leeds, and
the Burying Ground of this Hosptl: and abt: the
Cleaning & Repairing of the Comon Sewer
there, and about Light Have Come to an
Agreemt. with the sd Mr: Joyner & Mr. Breakspeare on behalfe of Mr Leeds
his Undertemnt : which they have reduced
into Writing in Order to be Signed and is as follows vizt:

Memdn: the: 17th: day of December Anns Donr 1707. It is
Covenanted & Agreed by & betweene the Govrs. of St. Thos. Hosp.
in Southwarke on the one part & Thomas Joyner of London
Merchant & Martha Leeds< no role > of Cullum in the Parish of Walgrove
in the County of Berds Widdow on the other part as followeth
Vizt.

The Comon
Sewer 66 foot in
Length


That the Comon Sewer running betweene the Burying
Ground of the sd Hosptl. and the Tenement & Ground belonging to
the sd Thomas Joyner & held under him by the sd Martha Leeds< no role >
by Lease for a long Terms of Years yet to come & unexercised shall be
from time to time as Occasion shall required Cast cleansed & Sewered
dureing the continueance of that Lease at the Costs & Charges of the
sd Martha Leeds< no role > her Exers Admrs & Asst, and afterwards at the Costs
& Charges of the sd Thomas Joyner< no role > his Heires & Asst. And that the Govt.
of the sd Hospt. shall [..] at all times hereafter be saved & kept harmeless
from the sd Costs & Charges and all Fines Amerciaments & other
Damages that may happen by reason of any neglect or default in
the Casting cleansing or Scowering of the sd Sewer, which containes
in length from the Door way leading out of the Hospt: into the said
Burying Ground to the outside of the Brickwall being the Fence
of the said Burying Ground next Joyners Street Sixty Six Foot
or thereabouts little more or lesse.

That in Conbn . thereof the Soyle of the said Sewer may upon
every cleaning be Cast & laid upon the sd Burying Ground, and
what Charges shall happen in removeing or Carrying away the same
shall be borne & said by the sd Govts.

That the Wooden Fence lately erected by the said Govrs. upon the
Crowne or Middle of the Arch over the sd Sewer part whereof next to
Joyner Street aforesd is now abt. Ten Foot high, and the other
grant about Twenty Foot high shall forthwith be made all of the same
