Middlesex to wit


December Session 1799.

David Sands< no role > of Pall Mall in the County of Middlesex Gentleman
maketh Oath and saith that he this Deponent is possessed of certain
Lease hold Premises in Great Russell Street Bloomsbury in the Parish of Saint
Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex And this Deponent further
saith that in or about the month of april last past This Deponent being about
to make some Alterations and Erections in and upon the said premises did
employ and direct one Mr James Mannsand< no role > others to do the same And
this Deponent being informed that by an Act passed in the fourteenth
Year of the reign of his present Majesty King George the third intitled the
Building Act it was necessary for the said Alterations and Erections to
be inspected and superintended by one John Hele as Surveyor of that
Distriot in order that the same might be completed according to the
directions of the said Act he this Deponent did request the said John
Hele to come and inspect the same which he the said John Hele
Promised the said Deponent he would do but did not come for a
Considerable time And this Deponent further saith that he caused
Mr Benjamin Biggs< no role > to go to the said John Hele at his house in
Charlotte Street [..] and request him to come to the said premises
in Great Russell Street to see the works going on and particularly respecting
a Chimney Fl [..] e and the said Benjamin Biggs< no role > informed this Deponent he had
seen the said John Hele and that he had promised to come in a few days
or as soon as he conveniently could or words to that or the like effect
And this Deponent further saith some considerable him after he had made
the before mentioned application to the said John Hele requiring him to
attend and survey and examine and direct the said works and Building
he received a Message from the said John Hale< no role > desiring this Deponent to come
to him and this Deponent accordingly went to the said John Hele when
he told this Deponent that his Building in the way he was about to go
on with it would inconvenience Mr Abbotts by throwing a shade on one of
his Window and that Mr Abbott was a very particular friend of his and
if the Buildings were not made to please in every respect and as he
required it would very much offend him and he gave this deponent to
understand he would an nor [..] him if he did not shape the Building to Mr.
