The order of Reml. appeales agaist is under the hands
& Seals of G. Goodenough & J Hunter Esqrs. & is dated the
7th. day of Decrs. 1798 [..] Whereby Christr. Gainford< no role > was
removed from the Parish of St. Clement Danes to
the Parish of St. George the Martyr Southwark
at the Place of his last legal Settlemt.

Case

If the Account given by the Pauper Christs. Gainford
as to the examination which this reml is founderright correct, it was one of the Slightest on which to ground a removal that has ever
come within one know lose

He (the pauper) has been maintained by the
Respondents in their Work house for 2 or [..] 3 Years past
in the course of which time he has left it for a certain
Space of time & then Acturned to & been received into it again
it however happened that about the beginning of the
Montle of December last, the Committe for managing the
Affairs of the Parish had what they termed an Over [..]
haul of the Paupers in which they were assissd by
then Officers, their Vestry Clerk & his Clerk- when it
came to Gainfords turn to be examined-he was asked
in a very pcremptons manner how set his Settlemt. [..]
he answered by renting a house of 30l. a Year- Whose
& how long since I then questions being answered he
