From the Above periods she concludes the Child to be 7 years old or thereabouts She says the mother very seldom if
ever saw the Child from the Birth untill the time of her being called on before the Justices to prove its settlement
and from thence accuses her of being a very unnatural Mother She at first spoke positively as to the House and the age
of the Child and say'd she had given the precise Testimony above stated to the JusticesIt appears the Vestry Clerk
of Shoreditch Parish has been with her since the Notice of the Appeal for on her being again Interrogated since
such Notice was given by the Officers of Saint Mary Staining She Affects to have forgot all the Circumstances above
related particularly as to the precise time of the Birth of the Child and now says she was not Examined before the
Justices And on her being questioned as to the Age of her own Child whose Milk the Illigitimate Child suck'd
she wont give any Account On being Asked about the Marriage of the mother with Richard Jones< no role > she tells
the Officers of Saint Mary Staining she will let them into a secret (ie) that Richard Jones< no role > was a Soldier &
had another wife at the time of his Marriage with Sarah Jones< no role > From all the circumstances of this Case It
appears pretty evident there is a kind of collusion between the Officers of Saint Leonard or the Vestry Clerk and
the Mother and nurse by their Combined Story to fix the Inhabitancy of the Child in Saint Mary Staining

Immediately on receiveing the Order of removal the Officers of Saint Mary Staining
having on Examination of circumstances found the in consistency of the Storys by the mother and nurse and
conceiveing they had compleatly imposed on the Parish officers of Shoreditch Apply'd first to the Majestrates for
a sight or Copies of the Examinations by whom they were Referred to Mr Searr the Vestry Clerk of Shoreditch
Parish Mr. Searr was these apply'd to for the same requesting his Assistance to Join in [..] Inquiry to find
out the imposition But Mr Searr AsConscious that some wrong Steps had been taken by him or
his Officers declined to produce such Examination or to give any Assistance to find out the truth

The Child from Circumstances appears to be a total Stranger to the Mother refusing to go to her
And in fact it is presumed the mother cannot by any possibility (if Strictly examined) Indentify the Child
having never seen it from its Birth

The Child appears to be full 7 years of Age but not 9 YearsIf therefore it can be presumed
that all the parties are so far Mistaken as to the Age of the Child as to swear it is not Seven years OldAltho:
it may be nine Yet if the Testimony of Mr Hallpike and wife is true It could not have been born in the house
Sworn toAnd parties differing so Widely as to the time of the Birth of an Illigitimate Child which must
at leastlasthave left a strong in pression on the mind of the mother will surely induce the Court to pay little
Credit to any part of their Testimony

A Mr. Redfern was the Gentleman who paid for the nursing the Child but he says
that Mr. Collins has been dead near six years and by his account the Child must be 8 years of Age
Mr. Redfern will attend if it should be at all proper to examine him

Sarah Jackson< no role > als Jones< no role >
the Mother
Frances Well< no role > the Nurse }

Are Spned to produce the Child and to be examined as to the precise time and place where
the Birth happened And it is requested they may be very Strictly examined and the Evidence
compared with the Examinations before the Justices And it is also Submitted that these Witness
together with any other produced by Saint Leonard should not hear each other EvidenceTheir
Contradictory accounts already given will surely Justify such a Request

Christopher Hallpike< no role >
Hannah Hallpike< no role >
his wife }

Will Prove the period they occupied the House No 8 in Lilly pot Lane to be from
1784 to 1792 That Sarah Jackson< no role > never lodged in their House or was ever
delivered thereof a Child
