Parish of Saint Pancras Middlesex

At a Meeting of the Inhabitants of the Said Parish
holden in Percy Chapel on Tuesday the 11th Day of July 1780

Captn Hayes in the Chair

A Letter from the Committee Appointed by the Lord
Lieutenant of the County Etc was read Stating that the duke of
Northumberland having Suggested that for the Preservation of
the peace It was necessary to Put the Civil Power upon a more
effectual Establishment And that the Committee were of Opinion
That until a proper plan for that Purpose beformed and Carried
into Execution An offer should be made to She Several Parishes That
the Officers belonging to the Royal Volunteer Companies Should
Give their Attendance for Two months with their Non-
Commissioned Officers at proper times in the Said Parishes
to Instruct such Inhabitants as might be willing to
learn the Use of Anns to Assist the Civil Majestrates in the
Preservation of the Peace when Occasion might require and
to furnish them with the Companies Anns during the
time of Exercise and defray the Expence of the Non Commissioned
Officers Attending that Duty

Resolved


That the thanks of the Inhabitants of this Parish
be transmitted to the Said Committee for their Obliging
Letter and Offer and to Auquaint them that the Inhabitants
have not as yet fixed on any proper Plan of Association
