after Batty was upon the Timber a Man (who Informant
knows not) Came up to him with a Sword or a Cutlass
And Struck him several timesBut the particular
Places where Informant cannot tell
That the Person that Struck him was a Coal Heaver
a Middle sized ManHow he was Dressed Informant
cannot TillBelieves he was 3 or 400d Yards off
That he saw only One Person Stirk himThat he
(Batty) was lying down when Informant first Saw him
on the Timber And he was lying down all the time the
Man Beat himThat he Struck him several
times with a Stick also& Struck himwithsometimes
with One hand and sometimes with the Other
That Informant did not know it was Batty that was
hurt untill some body Came with a Boat and Informed him
That Informat saw him in the Hospital and he
Understood his Shall was fracturedThat he had a
Cut in his right ShoulderThat the Deceased was
Servant to the Owners of the said Ship And was a
very Civil well behaved Man and Died last Thursday
Says he thinks the Deceased did not go with any Intent
to Oppose the CoalheaversSays he know none of
the Coalheaver
