the Freelove Saith That this day fortnight Informant was
Board said Ship at Shadwell Dock
That between three
and four in the Afternoon several Sailors went [..] from On Board
Other Ships lying therein Order to go on Shoretoat
Shadwell Dock
to a Number of Coalheavers
who were then at the Stairs
Armed with Cullasses Swords &That they went to the
Coalheavers (as Informant Supposes) to know what the
Coalheavers wanted with them That Batty Seeing the said
Sailors go on Shore he would go to and went on Shore
[..] and Stood there in the middle of the Coalheavers
for
the Space of Ten Minutes or upwards and they did not
Offer to Strike or middle with himThat while Batty
was on Shore a Dispute Arose amongst the Sailors who
had gone from the Other Ships and the Coalheavers
That Informant did not See Batty go And cannot tell whether
or not he had any thing in his HandsThat he withdrew
from theGroundCrowd after they began Quarrelling and
got upon Some Timber lying near the StairsThat
