At the General Quarter Session of the Peace of our Lord the King holden
for the County of Middlesex at Hicks Hall in Saint John Street in the said
County (by Adjournment) On Monday the Twentieth day of October in the
Sixth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third King of
Great Britain etc Before John Hawkins< no role > Stephen Clarke< no role > , Thomas Niccoll< no role >
Benjamin Cowley< no role > Esquires and others their Fellows Justices of our Lord the
King assigned to keep the Peace in the Said County and also to hear and
Determine diverse felonies Trespasses and other Misdemeanours
Committed in the same County.

Whereas the Churchwarden and Overseers of the Poor of the Hamlet of Ratcliffe
in the Parish of St. Dunstan Stepney in the County of Middlesex Did at the last
General Session of the Peace held in the Month of September last Exhibit their
Petition and Appeal Settingforth That by an Order under the hands and Seals of
Christopher Scott< no role > and Robert Pell< no role > Esquires two of his Majestys Justices of the
Peace for the said County of Middlesex (one whereof the Quorum) bearing
date the 13th. day of August last past Thomas Wilson< no role > Rebecca< no role > his wife and
their Child (to wit) Rebecca< no role > aged about Two years & a Quarter were removed
from the Precinct of Saint Catherine in the County of Middlesex aforesaid
to the said Hamlet of Ratcliffe as the Place of their last legal Settlement
whereby the Petitioners thought themselves aggrieved Which said Appeal
was duly adjourned unto this day Now upon hearing of the said Appeal and what
hath been alledged on either side by the respective Churchwardens and Overseers their
Council and Witnesses in and concerning the Premisses And it now appearing upon
good proof that the said Poor Child was born a bastard in the Parish of saint George in the
said County and was sent and removed with its said Mother for nurture This Court
doth therefore amend the said Order of removal (being defective in form and not in
Substance) and after such Amendment made doth hereby ratify and confirm the
same as to the said Poor man and Woman and as to the said Poor Child this Court
doth allow the said Appeal and Vacate and discharge the said Order of removal and
doth order that the [..] Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Hamlett
of Ratcliff in the Parish of Saint Dunstan Stepney Do provide for the said
Poor man and Woman as their other Poor according to law and doth likewise order and
direct that the said Child doremain with the Mother for nurture and untill they can
Fee themselves from the Charge thereof by due course of Law.
