in order to serve her with
an Original Notice in Writing of the purport herein after
mentionedAnd this Deponent went up Stairs Stairs and
knocked at the Door of the Lodgings of the said Phebe

as this Deponent believes and asked
whether Phebe Wigginton< no role >
was at home and this
Deponent was Answered by a person in the said Room
who was a Woman as this Deponent apprehends and
believes by the Voice what he wanted and this Deponent
answered that he had a Notice to serve on Phebe

purporting that Mr. and Mrs. Sherlock
would appear on Thursday theEleventh day of
July to Try their Traverse upon the above Indictment
or words to that Effect but the said person refused to
open the Door to receive the said Notice And this
Deponent Saith tha he this Deponent put the said
Original Notice under the Door of the said Room.
