Name of John Stiles< no role > Esqr . and Compton Styles< no role > at the Prosecutor
of John Lee< no role > For an Assault

John Stiles< no role > of Red Lyon Square in the Parish of Saint George the Martyr
and in the County of Middlesex Merchant Maketh Oath and Saith That the
said Benjamin Stiles< no role > (who is Indicted by the name of Compton Stiles< no role > ) was born
in the island of Bermuda in North America and that he was Baptized there
by the Name Benjamin Stiles< no role > and hath been always hither to known by that
Name and no other And this Deponent further saith That on the Twenty fifth
day of June last past the said Benjamin in Stiles went on board the Brigantine or
Vessell called the Ward Captain Alexander Munay< no role > Commander as a Passenger
which said Vessell was bound to the Island of Bermuda aforesaid and is Since
Sailed and that he purposed to return to England in about Three Months time
Wind and Weather Permitting And this Deponent further saith that the said
Benjamin Stiles< no role > is gone to the Island of Bermuda aforesaid to Command
and bring from thence when Built a New ship or Vessell now Building there for the Use of
and belonging to this Deponent and for no other reason to the best of this Deponent
Knowledge and belief And this Deponent s further Saith that there is not
above one Vessell which Trades immediately from hence to the Island of
Bermuda aforesaid And that if the said Benjamin Stiles< no role > had lost the then
Opportunity of going there as a passenger in the Vessell aforesaid he must
have waited about five or six months longer at least for a Passage which
would have been greatly detrimental to this Deponent in his Mercantile
Affairs.
