The humble Petition of Appeal of the Church Wardens and
Overseers of the Poor
of the Parish of Ashford
in the County of
Kent
Sheweth
That by an Order or Pass under the Hand and Seal of
William

Esquire of his Majestys Justices of the peace
for the said
County of Middlesex
bearing date the twentieth day of April
1749.
and directed to the Constable, Headborough, Tythingman, and other.
Officer of the peace
of the parish of St. Clemt. Danes
in the County of
Middlesex
to receive and convey And to the Church Wardens Chapel
Wardens or Overseer of the Poor of the Parish Place or Precinct of
Ashford in the County of Kent
or either of them to receive and obey;
Reciting that Ann Standfast, Singlewoman
was apprehended in
the said Parish of St. Clemt. Danes as a Vagabond Videlicit Wandering
& begging And alledging that the Place of her last Legal Settlement was in the
said Parish of Ashford
It Was therefore by the same Order required
that the said Ann Standfast should be conveyed to the said Parish
of Ashford
there to be delivered to some Church Warden Chapel Warden
or Overseer of the Poor of the same Parish to be there provided for
according to Law and the said Church Wardens Chapel Wardens and
Overseers of the poor were thereby required to receive the said person and-
provide for her as aforesaid.
That your Petitioners are greatly aggrieved by the said Order, or Pass.
Your Petitioners therefore Appeal against the
said Order or Pass And humbly Pray that
a Short Day may be appointed by the Court
for Hearing the same;
