Between the King and the Same Deft.

Abraham Kemp< no role > of London Merchant Thomasine Wright< no role > of the Parish
of Saint Buttolph Algate Spinster George Vokes< no role > of the same place Cordwainer
and Anthony Benn< no role > of the Inner Temple London Gentleman Severally make
Oath and first this Deponent Abraham Kemp for himself Saith that in or
about the month of August one Thousand Seven hundred and thirty he
this Deponent was Indicted at the Sessions of the peace held for the
County of Middlesex by one Giles Brown< no role > and Katherine his wife upon [..]
severall Indictments preferred by the said Brown and his said Wife
against him this Deponent Abraham Kemp for two Supposed Assaults
committed by him this Deponent on them Severally And this Deponent
saith that in or about the Month of September then following when he
this Deponent was required to appear at the then Sessions held for the
said County he this Deponent was Confined to his bed by a Violent
feaver and could not appear at the Sessions as was required But this
Deponent Notwithstanding his said Sickness did pay to one Edward Morse< no role >
an Attorney at Law the Sum of one pound nine Shillings and Six pence
and about two days after did order the said Mrs. Wright to Carry and
pay to him the said Morse the Sum of Eighteen Shillings which she
informed this Deponent She actually did pay to the said Morse
and this Deponent beleives She really did making together the
Sum of Two pounds Seven shillings and six pence which was paid to
the said Morse by this Deponent in order to respite this Deponents
Recognizance and to prevent the doing thereof and Suffered this Deponents
latter end of Michaelmas Term one thousand Seven hundred thirty
and one this Deponent caused a Bill of Indictment to be preferred
against the said Giles Brown< no role > and his said Wife in the Crown Office for
an assault by them Committed on this Deponent as the truth really was
and the said Indictment being found the above named Master Benn
Sent word thereof to the said Master Brown who thereupon applyed himself
to the said Master Benn and this Deponent to have all Disputes then in
Controversy amicably to be Ended and upon a Meeting had on the
Twenty Sixth day of January one thousand Seven hundred and thirty
one it was mutually agreed to give each other General Release and
also the said Brown's wife was at that time agreed to Release this
Deponent which this Deponent did at that time to the said Mrs. Brown
and the said Master Benn was a Wittness to the Signing and Executing of
the said Release by Master Brown who then agreed his wife should do the
like at any time but the same has not been Executed by her by reason
