James Kindrick< no role > of the Parish of Pancras in the County of Middx Victuals
maketh Oath That he this Dept was present when John Backer< no role > of the Said parish
Labourer gave Instructions to in Mr Wm. Ratter< no role > the Scrivener to draw an affidaird
wch he beleives was produced before the Commissioners for the high Wayes, wch
Said affidaird Soe made by the Said Backer was read unto him the Said Backer
Twice before he Signed the same by the said Rafter in presence of this Dept. and
in presence of Roger Madocks< no role > Joseph Raymand< no role > & Mr. Clancy, And likewise he this
Dept. was Actualy present when Mr. Geary one of the Masters in Chancery
[..] ned & asked the said Backer whether he [..] accquainted with the Contents
[..] said affidaird & whether the same was read to him before he Signed the same
to wch he the Said Backer answer that it was read to him & yt he was well
Accquainted with the Contents thereof; whereupon the said Master tooke the said
affidaird and Swore the said Backer and afterwards Signed the same, in wch said
Affidd to the best of this Depts Memory he the said Backer did settforth & declare yt
he was well accquainted with the Farm now in the possession of Mr. Spencer for that
he the sd Barker lived in one of the houses that belongs to the said Farm & kept
the signe of the Load of hay and was a Caster and Farme for about forty year's
And by his Said Affidaird did likewise settforth to the best of this Depts memoy
That Mr. Clancy held more Land then the said Mr. Spencer; And this Dept
further Sayeth that the Sunday next after he the Said Backer had Swan to ye
Said affd. he called att this Depts house and tould this Dept. that the Surveyes
had Threatned him the Said Backer and made him very Uneasy for haveing
Sworn to the said affidaird or wards to that or the like Effect; upon which discourse
this Dept. asked the sd Backer whether he had forsworn himself to wch. he made
Answer Noe for that he had Sworn nothing but the Truth or words to that
Or the like Effect; And this Dept: further maketh Oath that he observed
some Labourers on the road who work'd for and upon Act. of the Turnpike
[..] Said Labourer he observed to Loytor [..] their time for
Want of being looked after by the Surveyers, by wch means this Dept beleives
Each Labourer did not doe halfe a days work a man in a day
