Mr.. Raven stated That he Received the Certificate
from Mr.. Baldwin of the Duke of Portlands Office thro'
whose Hands all Certificates of a like kind pass that
unless Certificate for Lottery Prisoners are recommended
by the Committing Justice or the Stamp Office they
are not attended to but Considered as waste Paper
Evans's Pardon< no role > arose from the Certificate he knows
Evan Evans< no role > 's Brother he has heard that he has
Dined at Mr.. Adam's Table that Mr.. Adams and
he are intimate and that Mr.. Adam has dined at
his House he has no doubt but that Mr.. Baldwin
told him the Application was recommended by Mr..
Adam and that is the Reason for his having
marked it upon the back of the Certificate and he
thinks that Mr.. Baldwin told him he had a letter
from Mr.. Adam he knows Mr.. Butcher he has seen
Evan Evans< no role > but never. saw him before he was in
Custody ; - Questioned by Mr.. Nares had You
any and what Conversation with Butcher respecting
