and they were equally fruitless, I waited on him
at the House of Correction about 3. Months from
lending the Money about March or April Mr.. Aris
said he could not pay me but if I chose I might
draw a Bill upon him at two Months I told him
Two Months was too long and We concluded as
I think for One at 6. Weeks which I drew and Aris
then accepted, - I passed the Bill and when it
became due it was not honoured Mr.. Aris was
Arrested upon it after several Applications,
Mr.. Aris was Arrested upon it at the Suit of Mr.
Atkinson of Grange Court (to whom I had paid
it) the Landlord of the Light Horse now - the Debt
and Costs was afterwards paid the Sheriff was
fixed as the Officer Allingham told me and
then it was paid about the Spring of 97. Mr..
Bowen of Cliffords Inn was the Attorney
Evan Evans< no role > was Released about a fortnight after
he was Committed he was released by a Certs from
the Doctor of the Prison of his Bad state of Health
I saw the Certificate which I took to Mr.. Estcourt
at the Stamp Office from the Doctor of the Prison
Mr.. Webb can explaint it. - I applied to Mr.. Aris
soon after I had lent the £100. within a few Day's
I told Aris as I had done him one favor I expected
another by his Assisting Evans I told Mr.. Aris
he was a Man used to live well and to take his
Pint or Bottle of Wine after Dinner and Mr.. Aris
said he should have some Wine to drink and
he Aris desired me to send some Wine to the
Doctors House and Aris undertook that it should
be taken into the House of correction for Evans as
Bark, I then went away, I sent a Dozen Bottles
of Wine to the Doctors House on the next Day December
8th.. 1796. - Thomas Carpenter< no role > is now my Servant
who carried the Wine to the Doctors House December
8th.. 1796. I booked the Wine to Mr.. Evans as I was not
going to make him a present of it; -
