himself; said the Gentlemen meaning Mr Gliddon and Mr Hinley
would expect a Compliment and he must leave a Guinea for them
as the Business he wanted done was out of the common mode of
doing business, and that he would sign his Licence with Mr Boggan
which was done, that he intended to have given Mr Gliddon the
Guinea when the Licence was Signed but forgot it, then being at the
Paving Board that Evening late and set out for Bath next Morning
intended to have called upon Mr Gliddon and Mr Hinley on return
to Town to have paid them but it slipped his Memory.

Mr Blackborow laid the following Complaints against
Mr Friquet before Your Committee.

1stThat Mr Friquet hath been seen two or three times a
Week in Conversation with Roberts at New Prison and has been seen
looking over the Books and Commitments for Six Months past:

2dThat he has taken Ten Shillings and six Pence for Bail on
a Bench Warrant of two Persons and hath been Partners with Berry
and has made Warrants special to him for that purpose.

3dHath taken Two Shillings from each Person brought before
him as a Night Charge and committed them to New Prison for want
of Sureties if they could not pay it.

4thHas taken Five Shillings for a Distress Warrant for the
Poors Rates and Two Shillings and six pence for several Warrants
for the same purpose and hath not paid the Information Money on
Convictions of Bread as the Act directs

5thHas taken Persons to Prison and brought them from Prison
without any other Persons being with them.

6thHas taken Bail in the Prison and discharged the Prisoner
and afterwards entered the Bail in his Books

7thA Journeyman Baker obtained of Mr Friquet a Summons
for Mr Miller his Mistress for Wages 6th. and upwards said to be
due unto him, made an Order for her to pay the Money and
