holden at the Session House on
Clerkenwell Green
this Twenty sixth day of October in the
year of our Lord 1789
. The certificate of John Harwood< no role >
in pursuance of the Statue in this Case made and
provided respecting the Gaol of the House of Correction
at Clerkenwell
.
I do hereby Certify
22 & 23 G2. C. 20 Enacts That
Felons and Debtors shall be kept
separate, under Penalties upon the
Sheriff
or Gaoler
There is no place set apart in this
Prison for Debtors but they are kept
as separate from the Felons as the
construction of the Prison will allow.
24 G2: C: 40 Enacts That
1No Gaoler shall send lend
use, give away or suffer spirituous
Liquors within any Gaol under a penalty
No Spirituous Liquors are suffered
to be brought into the Prison except
such as are ordered by the Apothecary
.
2Copy of the Clause last mentioned
as also of two other Clauses respecting
the same shall be hung up in the
Gaol under a Penalty
These Clauses are hung up in
the Prison.
32 G2. C. 28 Enacts That
The Clerk of the Peace shall cause
a List of the Fees payable by debtors
and the Rules and Orders for the
Government
of Goals and Prisons, to be
hung up in the Court where the Assizes
or Sessions shall be held, and send
another Copy, to the Gaol, and the
Gaoler shall cause the same to be
hung up in a conspicuous place
in the said Gaol
There are no Fees received from any
Debtors committed to this Prison
An Order from the Clerk of the Peace
for Fees to be paid by other persons
is hung up in the Prison.
