December 1782

"I beg leave to remind you that at the last meeting of the Committee
"at the Guildhall Westminster the Committee was adjourned until
"James Paine< no role > Esqr . should deem it necessary to call the Committee
"again together in Town: and further the Middlesex Session of the
"commances on Monday next the 2d. of December and well consequently
"be holden on the 4th. on which account you may perhaps think
"proper to alter your appointment: However if you should, after the
"above information, still be of opinion that the Committee ought to be
"convened for the 4th. and will please in answer to signify to me your
"inclination, I will most readily issue the necessary Summonses.

"I am
"with great Regard
"Dear Sir
"Your most obedient hble Servt.
"Chas. Eyles< no role > ."

"James Paine< no role > Esqr ."

No. III

"Mr Paine presents his Compliments to Mr Eyles
"acquainting that he is sorry the resolutions of the last Committee at
"the Guildhall Westminster was a little understood as to require
"another pointless meeting in Town the last was of no more use to
"the Chertsey Bridge business than the last Years frost. The
"intended meeting upon the 4th. cannot be postponed the County of
"Surrey are again summoned for that day Mr. Paine cannot think
"of being guilty of a second rudeness and he is sorry Mr Eyles had not
"issued the summonses agreeable to his request Mr Paine has but just
"received Mr. Eyles Letter of the 26th. it being sent to Sayes and
"returned this morning."

Salisbury Street
"Novr. 29th. 1782"

It appearing to this Court that the Chertsey Bridge Committee at
their last meeting adjourned to meet in Town, That it is very
unusual and improper to hold Committees during the time of Session
(except at the Session House) and that to have the Chertsey Bridge
Committee meet on Wednesday next at Cherstey will be very
inconvenient and interfere with the business of this Session:
