December 1782.

Resolved that the meeting of the Chertsey Bridge Committee
be postponed till further notice and that information hereof be
immediately sent to the several Stembers of the said Committee
also to Mr. Paine.

By adjournment Thursday 5th.

Mr. Chairman Reported that pursuant to the Resolution
of His Majestys Justices of the Peace in General Meeting assembly
on the 1st. day of November last he had waited on the Right Honorable
Mr. Secretary Townshend to communicate to him the proceedings of
the Justices in consequence of his Letter of the 22d. day of October 1782
but not having been able to see him he had written a Letter contained
the necessary information and had in return received the subsequent
answer vizt.

"I have just received the honour of you Letter with the
"Proceedings inclosed which from the number of respectable names of
"Magistrates which are affixed to them, as well as their own Purpo [..]
"do great honour to the Commission of the peace for the County of Middx
"I shall be extremely glad to see you at this Office at about Eleven
"tomorrow of that time should suit your convenience If not the
"sooner I have that pleasure will I believe, be the better for the
"public service as well as more desireable for me. I am with great
"Regard."

and that in Consequence of the sd Letter he had waited upon Mr. Sureley

Mr. Chairman further reported that in pursuance of the same
Resolution he had received from his Majestys Justices of the peace
acting in and for the several Divisions hereafter named Account
of their respective proceedings and the titles of the said Returns being
Read.

It is Ordered that the said Returns be transmitted to the
Right Honourable Thomas Townshead One of His Majestys principal
Secretaries of State and that the Chairman be requested to transmit
the same accordingly.
