The said Committee Report
That in pursuance of the Order of reference to them
made Vizt. To prepare a Memorial to the Lords Commissioners of
His Majestys: Treasury agreeable to the Report of the prison Committee
made and Confirmed in October Session last" & Mr. Eyles having
laid before Your Committee the following Draft of a Memorial

The Humble Memorial of
His Majestys Justices of the peace
for the
County of Middlesex
Sheweth
That in the Sixteenth Year of the Reign of His
present Majesty King George the Third an act of Parliament
was made to authorize for a limited time the punishment by hard
Labour of Offenders who for certain crimes are or shall become
liable to be Transported to any of His Majestys Colonies and
Plantations" since which time no persons Convicted in any of the
Courts holding Criminal Jurisdiction within the County of
Middlesex
have been sentenced to Transportation but have been
sent by virtue of the said Act to hard Labour on the River
Thames
or in the Houses of Correction belonging to the said
County where they have been and now are Secured and
Supported the first under the directions and at the Expence
of Government the letter at the Charge of the County of Middlesex
