great Numbers have been Sentenced to be Imprisoned in the said
House of Correction pursuant to the said Act And also great
Numbers for a Shorter length of time Whereby your Petitioners
charge hath been greatly augmented and which is yet liable to
increase to a very great degree and for your Worships information
Your Petitioner begs leave to refer you to his Book of Convicts which is
now present and shews a clear and particular Account of all the
Convicts committed to his Care since the commencement of the said
Act together with an Account of those now in Custody which are eigthy
nine in Numbers a List of which is hereinto annexed

Your Worships from this information will clearly understand
the part he has sustained in the public Service for the space of two years
The attention that hath been required and the anxiety created in your
Petitioners mind by so heavy a charge and also that a great expence
hath attended the discharge of such additional Duty

Your Petitioner begs leave in this place to express his sincerect
acknowledgments for the ready Support the Court has been pleased to
give him by paying the Expence of Man employed in Governing
the two Rioters committed from Newgate by the Sheriffs and assures
the Court he will continue to exert his utmost abilities to keep the
said Rioters under Subjection

Your Petitioner therefore humbly Prays
Your Worships will be pleased to take his
Petition into consideration and grant him
such a Sum of Money as in your Wisdom
you may think fit as a consideration for his
Services for the two years last past ending the
present Session and that Your Worships will
be further pleased to grant him a Salary
adequate to the said additional charge of
Governing and managing the Convicts that
now are and may be committed to his care
And your Petitioner as in Duty bound will over
Pray Etc.
