Sir

The Keeper of Newgate presents his most Respectful Complain [..]
to Mr. Eyles and in obedience to the Order which he received sends Mr. Eyles
the following Authority as the legal Ground for claiming the fees

Where Mr. Akerman received his admin. to the Office of Keeper of
Newgate he also Received a Table of fees, which Impowered him to demand
18s..10d. for every felony and 14s..10d for every Misdemr.

For Prisoners Tried and Acquitted and Discharged by proclamation
pursuant to an Act of parliament made in the 14th. Yr. of his present
Majesty

For Prisoners who are Sentenced to hard Labour by an Act of
parliament made in the 16th Yr. of his present Majesty

It is Ordered that Sir John Hawkins< no role > Knight There
Reverend Sir George Booth< no role > Baronet Richard Paul Jodrell< no role > William
Mainwaring
< no role > George Allcock< no role > Thomas Tryon Cotton Saunders Welch< no role >
Thomas Cogan< no role > and John Walford< no role > Esquires or any three or more of
them be and they are hereby appointed a Committee to take into
Consideration the Claims and Demands of Mr. Richard Akerman< no role >
upon this County in respect to the fees Supposed by him to be due to
him for the discharge and Commitment of certain persons in his
Custody and to see whether and how far this County is liable to the
payment thereof and to Report their Opinion to his Majestys Justices
of the peace for this County on the County day of the next General Quarter Session
of the peace to be holden for this County and the said Committee are hereby
empowered to take to their Aid the assistance of such person or persons learned
in the Law as they shall think proper and the said Committee are also
hereby authorized to call for persons andpapers and Records and it is further ordered
that it be an instruction to the said Committee and they are hereby
authorized and empowered in Case application shall be made on the
part of the said Mr. Richard Akerman< no role > This name instance is in set 4413. to the Court of Kings Bench
to compel the payment of his said Demands before the said Committee
shall have been able to report their Opinion in the premises to his Majestys
Justices of the peace for this County in Session of the peace assembled to Shew
Cause in the name of his Majestys Justices of the peace for this County
or otherwise proceed in defence of the County against the said Charge
and Demands and the Committee are to meet for the first time at
Hicks Hall on Tuesday next the Twenty Seventh day of October
Instant at the hour of One in the afternoon and afterwards to meet
and adjourn at and to Such place and places and time and times
as they shall think proper

It having been represented unto this Court that divers Loose Idle
and disorderly Persons such as players of Interludes and other
