Order for Suppressing
Gaming on the Lords Day.}
It being Represented unto this Court by Mr.
Saunders Welch< no role >
High Constable
of Holborn Division
in this County that great
Numbers of loose and disorderly Persons assemble in the Out
Parts of the Town every Lords Day during the Summer Season,
and practice Gaming of various Sorts, whereby Apprentices
and others are drawn into the neglect of the Publick Worship of
Almighty God and into a Train of evil Consequences attendant
thereupon, And the Said High Constable desiring the Assistance
of this Court to Suppress this growing Evil, This Court for the
preventing Such iniquitous Practice for the future Doth Order
that it be and it is hereby recommended and referred unto his
Majesty's Justices of the Peace for this County residing in Holborn
Division, Finsbury Division, and the Tower
Division in the Said
County to use their Endeavours to Suppress Such Gaming and
unlawful Assemblys of loose idle & disorderly Persons on the
Lords Day within their respective Districts, And in Order
thereunto that the Justices of the Peace
or any two or more of
them in each of the Said Divisions do by Warrant or Precept to
