ought to be allowed, which amounts in the whole to thirteen
pounds five Shillings & Six pence, and that the Said Justices
have also taken into consideration what further gratuity
(if any) Mr. Higgs deserves for his Services in & about the
premisses, And the Said Justices doe Report that Mr. Higgs in
defending the Hundred of Ossulston at the Suit of Morrice
had a great deal of extraordinary trouble to find out &
detect the villany that was consulted by the Said Morrice to
charge the Said Hundred with five hundred thirty one
pounds and ten Shillings And the Said Justices are of
opinion that Mr. Higgs deserves for his trouble as aforesaid
the Sum of five guineas which makes in the whole the Sum of
eighteen pounds ten Shillings & Six pence which he ought to
retain in his hands out of the publick moneys of this County,
This Court upon consideration had of the Said Report and of
the great trouble which the Said Mr. Higgs hath been at
in obtaining a discovery of the fraudulent & wicked
Practice of the Said George Morrice< no role > in endeavouring falsely
to charge & render the Said Hundred of Ossulston lyable to the
Payment of the Said Sum of five hundred thirty one pounds
& ten Shillings, and in consideration of the great care &
Service done by the Said Mr. Higgs in obtaining Such discovery
and in non prossing the Said action brought by the Said
Morrice Doth ratify & confirm the said Report And is of
opinion that an additional Sum of five guineas (over &
above the Said Sumes of thirteen pounds five Shillings &
Six pence being the amount of his Said bill of costs and five
guineas mentioned in the Said Report) be allowed to the
Said Mr. Higgs in respect of his Service, care & trouble
aforesaid And doth Order that the Said Mr. Higgs be at liberty
to retain to his own use, out of the publick money which he
now hath or may come to his hands as General Treasurer of
this County, the Said Several Sums of thirteen pounds five
Shillings & Six pence and five guineas mentioned in the Said
Report and the Said additional Sum of five guineas
allowed by this Court amounting in the whole to the Sum of
twenty three pounds fifteen Shillings & Six Pence, which Sum
is to be allowed to him upon his account as General Treasurer
of the Said County.
