Order for inspecting
laws in force agt.
Keepers of gameing
houses & houses of
boundry Etc

This Court being informed that divers evil disposed persons
do in several places in this County keep publique Gameing
houses and places for carrying on and encourageing the
playing at Cards Dice Tables Billiards and other
unlawfull Games whereby great Numbers of his Majesty's
Subjects are encouraged to Assemble and meet together
And many of them are defrauded of great Sumes of Money
to the ruin of themselves and their Family's And that
divers other evil disposed persons do keep Houses of
bawdry and other Disorderly houses whereby a great
many Young and unwary persons are Seduced
debancked and utterly ruined It is Ordered by this
Court that it be and It is hereby recomended unto Sr.
Henry Fetherston< no role > Bart . Sr. John Auston< no role > Bart . Sr. James
Misson

Thornhill

< no role > Esquires Nine of his Majesties Justices of the
Peace for this County And such other Justices of
the Peace for the said County as shall think fitt
to be present or any three or more of them to
inspect and consider what Laws are now in
Force against persons Keeping of Gameing
Houses or places for carrying on and
encouraging such unlawfull Games as aforesaid
And also against such persons as Keep houses of
bawdry or other Disorderly houses to the End it
may be concerted what methods may be used for
the preventing and Suppressing such evil practices
for the future And to certify an Account of the
Matters hereby recomended unto them unto
this Court.
