The Examination of William Calendar apprehended as a
Rogue and Vagabond and brought before me John Hopkins< no role > Esquire
one of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the said City
Who, being upon Oath, saith that he is aged about twenty two
YearsSays that he was bound Apprentice about the Age of fourteen
to Edward Deakins< no role > a Streel Toy Maker upon Saffron Hill , in the
Liberty of Saffron Hill in the County of Middlesex , and served
him about four YearsSays, that his Master gave him up his
Indentures at that Time, on which he went to Birmingham to
his Father and staid there two YearsSays, that he then quitted
Birmingham and returned to London and worked with Mr
Beaches a Corkscrewmaker in Hoxton about three Months and since that Period
he hath been in as constant or regular EmploymentSays,
that he found the Picklock Keys taken upon him, near Hoxton
Turnpike about eleven o'Clock in the Morning of the Day on
Which he was apprehended.
