The humble Petition and Appeal of The
Reverend William Clements< no role >

Sheweth
That Your Petitioner hath been for above Twenty Years
past and now is Library Keeper to the President and
Fellows of Sion College
situate in the Parish of Saint Alphage
in the City of London
and as such Library Keeper resides
in Apartments in the said College and is allowed a certain
Yearly Stipend by the said president and Fellows for his
Trouble and Attendance as such Library Keeper
That by a certain Rate or Assessment made on or about
the Twenty fourth Day of July last for the Relief of the Poor
of the said Parish of Saint Alphage Your Petitioner hath been
charged in the Sum of Twenty eight Shillings towards the
Relief of the Poor of the said Parish for and in Respect of the
said Apartments in the said College in which Your
Petitioner as such Library Keepers so resides
That Your Petitioner apprehends that as he resides
in such Apartments in the said College only as Library
Keeper
to the said President and Fellows he ought not to be
charged towards the Relief of the poor of the said Parish
