Elizabeth Green< no role > Wife of John Greens< no role >
Charged with Stealing two Pair of
Stocking's the Property of this Deponent

London (to wit)

Henry Davis< no role > of Widegate Street in the County
of Middlesex Hosier Maketh Oath and Saith That he this
Deponent sent Goods to Portsmouth in the County of Hants
on Saturday Previous to the Eleventh day of July last to his Shop
there and in Consequence thereof had taken Place in the Deligence
and did actually set off for Portsmouth aforesaid a Wednesday
Morning the said 11th. day of July last And his Deponent Saith That
the said Elizabeth Green< no role > had some time before breke out of the
Poultry Compter where she was Confined for the above Felony
And that this Deponent did not know that She was retaken
untill Tuesday afternoon the Tenth day of July last when
the Keeper of the Poultry Compter informed this Deponent
thereof And this Deponent further Saith That he could not Stay
in London to Attend the Tryal of the said Elizabeth Green< no role >
without great loss and injury to himself as he would thereby
have lost the Sale of the said Goods or the Greatest Part thereof
have Previously Engaged to Supply Captain Mann with the
same And this Deponent Saith That he did not Omit to Attend at the
last Session to Prosecute and give Evidence against the said Elizabeth
Green out of any favour towards her or for any Reward or hope or
Promise thereof.

Sworn at Justice Hall in the Old
bailey the 15th. day of Septr. 1781 }
