of the said City this 21st April 1781
Who on his Oath saith that between Eight and Nine of the Clock
Yesterday Evening the Prisoner Elizabeth Crompton< no role >
came
to this Informants Shop in Cheapside
aforesaid and asked
to see some Lane which was Shewn to her by one of Informants
Servants
That Informant received Intimation from a Neighbour
that the Prisoner was a suspected Person and desired he would
watch her that Informant was thereupon Particularly attentive to
the Prisoner during her stay in the Shop and was apprehensive
that he saw her convey a Piece of Lane into her Pocket
That the Prisoner bought some Edging her which she said
fuor Pence and then went out That Infoment [..]
immediately pursued herandtook hold of her Arm and acquainted her with his Suspicion
and brought her back into the Shop but she denied having
any of his Property about her, but upon Informants Selling
her that he would have her searched sheproducedtookof
out of her Pocket the Lace new Produced which he swears to
be Property of himself and Partners
