The Information of John Horton< no role > of Lawrence Pountney< no role >
Land in the City of London Merchant James Portis< no role >
and David Prothers< no role > taken before me this 7th. day of
February 1781

Who being upon Oath says and first the said John Horton< no role >
for himself says that about 8 o Clock on Saturday Night last a
Warehouse belonging to this Informant adjoining to a Dwelling house
as Lawrence< no role > Pountney Lane< no role > was broke open and a Quantity of
Indigo stolen therefrom Says that from a Sample or small
Quantity of Indigo which he preserved from the other Indigo stolen
as aforesaid, which he hath this day compared with a Quantity
of Indigo now produced by the said James Portis< no role > and David Prothers< no role >
as well as from a knowledge of the Indigo when it was stolen he
doth verily believe the said Indigo so produced by them is his property, and
was stolen out of his Warehouse as aforesaid The said James Portis< no role >
for himself says, that on Wednesday last a person now present who calls himself
William Foriester< no role > came to this Informants house in White Lyon Street Norton Falgate
and offered a Quantity of Indigo now produced to him to Sell The
said David Prothers< no role > for himself says that he apprehended the said William
Foriester at the house of the said James Portis< no role > , and found in his Possession
the said Indigo of about £50 weight and further says that he
afterwards searched the house of the said William Foriester< no role > in a
Court in St. Johns Lane Smithfield on Wednesday last and there
found a Quantity of the same kind of Indigo now Produced And
the said John Horton< no role > for himself further says that he doth verily believe the
said last mentioned Quantity of Indigo produced by the said David
Prothers to be his Property and part of the Indigo stolen from him
as aforesaid
