andthe 13th day of June 1780
deposeth
and saith
Thatata litle after nine o'Clock on Tuesday Evening the
sixth of June being within the Prison of New Gate
and looking thro' the Checkers of the Gate he saw the
Prisoner

with a Gun Barrel or an Iron
Bar in his Hand Strike it against the Gate of the Prison
and thereby endeavoured to open it, that there were
thenAssembledbefore the Prison a great Number
of Person Assembled in a Ristons also Tumultuous
Manner, and that Mr. Aldermans Dwelling House
was then on Fire. That he hath should the Prisoner
since his Confinement in the Poultry
Compter and that
hehathadmittedthehis being amongst the Rioters at
New Gate
and that it was the Barrell of his Meyters
Gun he had in his Hand at the time he Struck at
the Prison Door
